Sara Alonso Gomez présente le début de sa traduction du livre de Sianne Ngai sur les catégories esthétiques. Trois nouvelles catégories semblent nécessaires à côté du sublime et du beau, pour rendre compte de la manière dont les expériences privées façonnent les discours esthétiques : le mignon qui renvoie à Adorno et à la consommation, le zinzin qui renvoie à Nietzsche et à la production, l’intéressant qui renvoie à Frédéric Schlegel et à la circulation.

Introduction to the Cute, the Zany and the Interesting
Sara Alonso Gomez presents the beginning of her translation of Sianne Ngai’s book on aesthetic categories. Three new categories seem to be necessary next to the sublime and the beautiful, in order to account for the way private experiences shape aesthetic discourses: the cute, which refers to Adorno and consumption, the zany, which refers to Nietzsche and production, and the interesting, which refers to Frederic Schlegel and circulation.

Cet article envisage l’hypothèse révolutionnaire saisie par le vodou dans le contexte actuel d’un mimétisme magico-religieux où le modèle eschatologique pentecôtiste a pris un statut hégémonique. Une lecture du livre Un Arc-en-ciel de René Depestre (1967) permet d’analyser plus finement le risque de voir une poïétique jadis révolutionnaire émanant d’un certain sens commun lié à la représentation du vodou en arriver aujourd’hui à favoriser un prophétisme du pire et à neutraliser la puissance d’agir politique.

This article considers the revolutionary hypothesis carried by Voodoo in the current context of a magico-religious mimicry in which the Pentecostal eschatological model has taken on a hegemonic status. A reading of René Depestre’s book Un Arc-en-ciel (1967) allows for a more detailed analysis of the risk of seeing a once revolutionary poetics emanating from a certain common representation of Voodoo come to favor a prophetism of the worst and to neutralize political agency.
