En posant la question de savoir si l’on pourrait déceler une pensée de la traduction chez Deleuze, cet article part, à la fois, de l’importance que Deleuze attribue à la syntaxe à titre de ce qui tend vers le mouvement du concept, et du rapport différentiel qu’il établit entre les langues anglaise et française eu égard au « devenir ». Dans cette perspective, on examine l’entrecroisement entre quelques concepts clés de la philosophie deleuzienne et certaines théories de la traduction qui élaborent une syntaxique contrastée de l’anglais et du français. L’analyse des concepts d’actualisation, de virtuel et d’actuel tels qu’ils sont employés par Deleuze et par la syntaxique comparée nous indique que c’est la temporalité interne que Deleuze attribue à la langue qui aurait un rôle critique à jouer dans la traduction.
The importance that Deleuze attributes to syntax, as that which tends towards the movement of the concept, along with his analyses of the different ways in which English and French relate to « becoming », form the basis on which this article investigates the question of whether a « theory of translation » can be found in Deleuze’s thought. In this perspective, we examine the intersection between several key concepts in Deleuze’s philosophy and theories of translation dealing with the comparative syntax of English and French. Analysis of the concepts of actualisation, virtual and actual, as used by both Deleuze and comparative syntax theorists, indicates that the internal temporality Deleuze attributes to language would play a critical role in translation.
