À partir de Marx et Spinoza, influencé par Deleuze, Negri construit une ontologie politique de la multitude comme puissance constituante permettant de reformuler la transformation sociale dans une perspective matérialiste de l’immanence. Cependant, cette interprétation repose sur une réduction de la substance spinoziste à l’activité collective des modes et conduit à socialiser l’ontologie spinoziste. Cette opération s’éloigne de la conception spinoziste de la substance unique et risque paradoxalement de réintroduire une logique ami-ennemi, que Spinoza permet précisément de dépasser en fondant le commun sur l’unité substantielle.

Drawing on Marx and Spinoza, under the influence of Deleuze, Negri develops a political ontology of the multitude as constituent power, allowing social transformation to be rethought within a materialist framework of immanence. This interpretation, however, reduces Spinoza’s substance to the collective activity of modes and thereby socializes Spinozist ontology. Such a move departs from Spinoza’s conception of a unique substance and paradoxically risks reintroducing a friend–enemy logic, that Spinoza’s philosophy seeks to overcome, by grounding the common in the unity of the substance.
