Si « apocalypse » signifie aujourd’hui couramment « fin du monde », les séries post-apocalyptiques conservent une part du sens originel du mot, dans la mesure où elles comportent toujours une dimension de « révélation » quant à la nature du monde dépeint. L’article en analyse les variations, à partir du film fondateur La planète des singes et de sa suite, dans trois séries récentes (Dark Angel, Wayward Pines, Les Chroniques de Shannara) et interroge ce faisant la fascination contemporaine pour ce genre.

in Post-Apocalyptic Series
Although “apocalypse” nowadays commonly means “end of the world”, post-apocalyptic series retain some of the original meaning of the word, insofar as they always include a dimension of “revelation” as to the nature of the world depicted. The article analyses, from the founding film Planet of the Apes and its sequel, the variations of this trop in three recent series (Dark Angel, Wayward Pines, The Chronicles of Shannara) and, in so doing, questions the contemporary fascination with the genre.
